joint.

This product is a joinery which has a design that restricts the movement of it to just one direction and the angle can be controlled.

date : november'21

This project was done as a part of the Product design course called material form & manufacturing at the design village, Noida. It is being done under the mentorship of Mohan Verma.

I started ideating this product with a thought of making prosthetics easier and more modular. the major challenge that I faced is the implementation of this for its testing. In this design a joinery has been made in which there are 2 different units and both can be joint by one dowel which creates the movement and that movement can be controlled by increasing and decreasing the curve in  the one of the unit. For this experiment I have taken a human finger as inspiration. The main joinery that I developed has been made by using resin as the main material and the height if the finger can be increased or decreased by the size of wood that will be used in between.

This product is still in its development phase and needs a lot of work to achieve the goal of it being visualized as something that can be used in prosthetics.
